Gramin Shiksha Kendra

Since 2004, Gramin Shiksha Kendra has been running three child-friendly, tuition-free schools known as Uday schools for 400 children near the Ranthambore National Park. Our philosophy is that children learn by doing and our curriculum involves sports, art, and pottery. Our emphasis is local: all of our teachers are from Rajasthan and we encourage parents to be involved in their children's education through our community engagement approaches. In 2011, we established our Vistaar programme, where we partner with government schools to train them in our education methods, bringing quality education to the Sawai Madhopur and Tonk districts. To date, we have reached 450 teachers and 10,000 students through Vistaar. In 2015, GSK Uday Schools were recognised as Change-maker Schools by the Ashoka Foundation.
